Remembering Our Vinho Verde Summer

Thank you, Brooklyn!

More than 600 guests attended Saturday’s (June 17) sold out Vinho Verde Wine Experience at the beautiful Weylin in Brooklyn, which was bathed in dramatic Vinho Verde green.

With 21 Vinho Verde wineries pouring more than 100 wines, guests learned about the wine region in northern Portugal from our winemakers as well as educators guiding tastings from fun, educational booths. A continuous mini masterclass showcased the variety of whites and roses. Another display tested for “super tasters,” and highlighted components that make wine crisp. The music and dramatic lighting added to the party atmosphere.

Special thanks to our cuisine partners: Mokbar, East Coast Poke, Poppy’s Catering, El Super, Big Mozz, and People’s Pops. From Korean soul food to tacos and poke, the fresh bites paired well with the refreshing Vinho Verde wines.

We were joined not only by winemakers, but also by local retail, restaurant and importer professionals. The president and marketing director of the commission of Vinho Verde producers (Manuel Pinheiro, Carla Cunha) made the trip, as did a national Portuguese TV crew and newspaper correspondent, who captured the event and rise of Vinho Verde imports for their home audience in Europe.

Harlem EatUp! Features Vinho Verde Wines

Vinho Verde wines were poured at the recent Harlem EatUp! festival in Morningside Park NYC, May 21-22. Vinho Verde was the only wine exhibitor with an exclusively white and rosé line-up, which paired very well with many of the foods on offer. Local chefs and restaurants offered signature dishes ranging from fried chicken and catfish to ceviche. Vinho Verde rosé proved very popular with this crowd, in fact celebrity chefs Aaron Sanchez, Emeril Lagasse and Marcus Samuelson requested a bottle on Saturday to enjoy themselves!

Vinho Verde Tablehopper Dinner #2 Ticket Giveaway

Starter – steamed rice pudding cakes topped with salty pickled turnip

Small Plate – stuffed squid with spiced potatoes and spicy sambal sauce

Vinho Verde Wines at US Trade Tasting

Vinho Verde wines were active in New York this March 21-22, 2016, with 18 producers participating in the US Trade Tasting event at the Metropolitan Pavilion. This three-day trade fair brought members of all levels of the US wine trade and press together to form new importing and distributing relationships in the United States. The US is now the #1 market for Vinho Verde wines, in both volume and value of imports. From January 2015 through September 2015 US imports of Vinho Verde wines were up +14% in volume and an astonishing +34% in value from 2014.

Vinho Verde takes New York

On March 21-22, 18 Vinho Verde producers will be presenting wines at the USA Trade Tasting in New York City. This event is an opportunity for producers to meet prospective US importers and distributors to bring their wines to the American market.
