Reverse Wine Snob Highlights the Single Varietal Avesso

Want to branch out and be a wine pioneer? We have just the wine for your. This single varietal Avesso is not your typical Vinho Verde. Typically the Avesso grape is blended into wines to give the wine a fuller body. However, the 2015 Quinta de Linhares Avesso highlights the Avesso variety in all of its glory. Enjoy flavors of pear and grapefruit and a refreshing and lively mouthfeel.

“The 2015 Quinta de Linhares Avesso from Agri-Roncao Vinicola and winemaker Antonio Sousa begins with a pleasant aroma of pear and apple but it really takes off when tasting. Taking a sip reveals a vibrant and delicious wine with more pear and apple plus a good dose of grapefruit. This medium to full-bodied wine has great depth of flavor and a wonderful, lively mouthfeel. It ends long with plenty of lingering grapefruit and pear flavors. This is a very refreshing, lovely wine and definitely a variety to seek out.” – Reverse Wine Snob

Taste Vinho Verde

Vinho Verde wines are remarkably food friendly – of course they pair well with Portuguese cuisine (think bacalhau), but try them with other types of seafood or cuisines! Vinho Verde pairs especially well with spicy foods!

Deliciously Delicious: A Recommendation from Reverse Wine Snob

Reverse Wine Snob says the 2015 Portal da Calcada Reserve Vinho Verde has gastronomic aptitude.

What does he mean exactly?

“‘Gastronomic aptitude’ — that may be one of my new favorite phrases, but with this wine, like many from Vinho Verde, it is absolutely true. This wine also typifies exactly what we talked about last week — a white blend made in a modern style from a region with a whole lot of history.”

Casa do Valle

Casa do Valle is located right next to the famous Cavez Bridge and spreads out along the hillsides of the Tâmega river. While the estate and property has been producing wine since the 18th century, Casa do Valle, Sociedade Agrícola was founded in 1987 to maintain and care for the Sousa Botelho estate. Casa do Valle continues to uphold the importance of tradition and modernity while making a “continuous investment in two key areas: viticulture – increase in area under vines, plantation of new grape varieties, improvement of the care of each vine; and Oenology – the introduction of new oenological practices in winemaking and improved techniques in the cellar.” Casa do Valle strives for excellence and innovation in their wines, which is evident in each bottle.
